The GRISS is a 28 item, comprehensive clinical measure of the existence and severity of sexual problems. It produces an overall score for men and women separately, and 12 subscale scores, concerning impotence, premature ejaculation, anorgasmia, vaginismus, non-communication, avoidance and dissatisfaction. The GRISS is applicable to heterosexual couples and to individuals who have a current heterosexual relationship. The GRISS provides a profile of the pattern of sexual functioning within the couple and for each partner. It is useful for quick diagnosis or for preliminary screening.
The GRISS can be used as a companion test to the Golombok Rust Inventory of Marital State (GRIMS) , to assess the efficacy of different forms of therapy or to investigate the impact of social, psychological, medical or other factors on a relationship.
