The MHVS was designed as a companion measure to the Standard Progressive Matrices and assesses verbal reasoning ability in the general population.
MHVS Definitions Form: Consists of the full 88 items in open ended format and can be used with ages 6–80.
MHVS Form 1 and 2 Junior: Designed for ages 11–13, the 11 most diffi cult words are omitted from this version. Forms 1 and 2 are parallel.
MHVS Form 1 and 2 Senior: Designed for ages 13+, the 10 easiest words are omitted from this version. Forms 1 and 2 are parallel.
MHVS Short Form: This form contains every 5th word from the full scale and can be used to obtain a brief assessment of the respondent’s ability to communicate.
